Hi, I’m Kendra. I have 15 years experience in mental health, supporting children, teens, adults and families in their journey toward wellness. As a mom myself, I understand the challenges affecting kids and teens today as well as how the experiences of our kids, affect us as parents.

Anxiety, depression, academic stress and peer dynamics impact our kids’ emotions.  I love working with kids and teens to help them understand their thoughts and behaviours differently, so that they can express themselves more effectively, and cope with emotions in safe and healthy ways. I also work with parents to support them in understanding and responding to their kids in ways that can help them achieve the positive changes they are seeking.

With adult children, our roles as parents and our approach with our kids requires some shifting. This new relationship with adult children can create unique tension not experienced when they were younger. Additionally, adult children of aging parents experience new dynamics and new stressors. Having worked with families of all ages, including those with parents in retirement living settings, I am well versed in supporting families navigate challenging dynamics and resolve long-standing difficulties, not just between parents and children, but also those between siblings.

In addition to my work with kids and teens, I also have a passion for working with those experiencing grief. With a certificate in Grief Therapy, I am certified in supporting those on their end-of-life journey, including MAiD, and family and friends affected  by end-of-life decision making. Grief therapy can also support the loss of a pet, change in life circumstance (for example job loss or divorce) and anticipatory grief, and all have significant impact on mood and functioning.

As I know that all clients are unique, and I will partner with you in exploring your goals for counselling and will use a variety of treatment approaches that best suit your needs. Building a solid, trusting relationship is incredibly important, and I will always work within your comfort level and your pace.

I invite you to reach out today to explore how I might help you, your kids or the older adults in your family to feel happier and healthier
