Teri Lane, MSW, RSW
Hi, I’m Teri, founder and one of the therapists at Thriving Families Counselling. I’ve been working with individuals and families in various capacities for more than 17 years.
Populations Served: Adults (18+), Women Health (16+), Families (within the same or multiple households), Parents (families of all ages)
Specialties: Anxiety, Depression, Stress, Coping Skills, Relationships, Life Transitions, Parenting, Family Therapy/Family Conflict, Communication, Separation and Divorce, Self-Esteem, Women’s Health (pregnancy, post-partum, premenstrual dysmorphic disorder, perimenopause/menopause)
Parenting Support
Parenting isn’t easy and kids and teens don’t come with a handbook. We put high expectations on ourselves to be “good parents” and are often left feeling inadequate and overwhelmed. Kids' behaviour can be baffling and for parents whose child has received a mental health diagnosis feelings of fear and confusion and “what do we do now” are plenty. I created Thriving Families Counselling to provide a place in which parents could receive new understanding of their child or teen, explore how their own life experiences have influenced their approach to parenting and for families together to learn new ways to create healthy communication and functioning.
Women’s Health
In addition to working with parents, I also have a passion for supporting women who are experiencing the emotional impact of pregnancy, postpartum depression, premenstrual dysphoric disorder and perimenopause/menopause. From my own experience, I know symptoms associated with these conditions can feel debilitating and that counselling can be helpful in relieving symptoms, restoring well being and helping you to feel like yourself again.
